Infertility
Did you know that, according to The British Medical Journal, (Feb '08) using Chinese Acupuncture in conjunction with IVF:- increases the odds of pregnancy by 65%?
- increases the odds of ongoing pregnancy by 87%? (according to ultrasound evidence of pregnancy at 12 weeks)
- increases the odds of a live birth by 91% compared with IVF on its own?
Whether you are trying to become pregnant naturally or contemplating IVF, Chinese Acupuncture aims to restore and maintain a balanced system and inner health, thereby enhancing the environment for conception to take place.
Acupuncture increases the production of endorphins, the body's natural "feel good" brain chemical that plays a role in regulating the menstrual cycle. Acupuncture also has a neuro-endocrine effect, strengthening the connection between the areas of the brain involved with hormone production and the ovaries. A preconception treatment period of four to six months is recommended.
What we can hope to achieve through treatment:
•Improve quality of egg cells
•Improve embryo quality
•Improve blood flow to the uterus and quality of the endometrium
•Regulation of hormones
•Help reduce stress levels for couples
•Strengthen the immune system
•Reduce the chance of miscarriage
If natural conception does not occur and fertility treatment is needed, the time spent on improving health will have given you a greater chance for a successful outcome.
In the early stages of pregnancy, Acupuncture is used to help prevent miscarriage, and is also extremely beneficial for relieving common ailments of pregnancy such as nausea, fatigue, digestive problems and backache. At later stages, acupuncture can turn breech babies, induce labour and help with pain relief in the birth itself.
