Treatment
During your initial consultation Kylie will discuss with you the condition you would like treated and take a full medical history. Treating the patient as an individual is at the core of the Acupuncture treatment and it is this that helps allow the body to rebalance itself.
Kylie will also diagnose you by taking your pulse, looking at your tongue and assessing you. After considering all of these elements she will discuss with you an appropriate treatment plan and explain to you which TCM therapy or therapies would be most appropriate for you. In addition to Acupuncture, your treatment plan may include any of the following:
- Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture
- Patent Chinese herbal formulae
- Cupping
- Moxibustion
- Auricular Therapy
- Lifestyle Advice
Fine, sterile and disposable needles are then gently inserted at certain points along energy pathways in the body, to regulate the flow of energy and maintain harmony.
Acupuncture rarely, if ever, causes serious side effects. The needles are little thicker than a hair and often people don't even realise they have been inserted, although sometimes patients experience a dull ache, pressure or tingle around the needle after it is inserted.
Both during and after treatment most people describe a feeling of relaxation and invigoration, or even mild disorientation. These effects should wear off within 24-48 hours.
As a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) Kylie is bound by the strict rules set out in their codes of ethics and safe practice. These rules cover the use of sterile needles and hygiene procedures. Members are also bound by strict confidentiality. Anything you say during your sessions is completely confidential.
